Dr. Seuss Week and the Letter C
As you see the post below, we are busy with Dr. Seuss week.
On Monday, we read And to Think that I Saw It on Mulberry Street and each child drew a picture of what they saw on "Lamar Street". Mary Elizabeth said, she saw a big treasure box, bats, and mice on her way to school.
Today, we read The Cat in the Hat and tried to sneak up on him in the room! He is so hard to catch but the week is not over!!

Nursery Rhymes and the Letter of the Week
tmlCreations on etsy
We have entered the land of Nursery Rhymes this week. We started by the clock and watched the mouse run up it as it struck one, next we tried to help the kittens find their mittens but to no avail, and lastly we wondered about the stars above us!!
As for the" Letter of the Week", Miss Alpha-ca-pillar went to Queensland, Australia via magic quilt to learn some quilting techniques. Can you guess the letter?

Love is in the Air
Beware of Cupid's arrow, he's been spotted in Jr. K!
He has already struck.
Miss Alpha-ca-pillar is sweet on Nico,
maybe it was those blueberries he left for her.
She is on her way to Vermont by van
to eat vegetables and play the violin.
Can you guess the letter of the week?
Oh, what is love?
I asked the students and this is what they said:
Love is....
being shot by Cupid's arrow. -Nico
watching a sunset. -Swayze
hugs -Captain
a forest of trees. -Jon Reese
when you get hearts from people. -Anna
going to grandma's. -David
having fun. -Lucas
my family's eyes. -Mary Elizabeth

Happy Friday!
What a great week we had! We celebrated the 100th Day of School, Groundhog's day, and had a special visitor, Patrick House. Miss Alpha-ca-pillar did not make an appearance as she is still at Yellowstone but she should be back next week. (I wonder where she will be traveling to next week?)
Until Monday!

Nutrition and the Letter Y
Today we began our unit on Nutrition by discussing healthy food choices. I know we are going to have some healthy snacks. (No, cookies for me this week!) We ended our discussion with a book, Chocolatina by Erik Craft. It is about a little girl who loves chocolate on everything! Her health teacher informs her class daily "You are what you eat." Guess what happens?!! There is a surprise ending. As a center, the children were asked what they would turn into if they ate a certain item everyday. And here is what they said.
David- a flying Cheetos
Captain- a doughnut
Anna the Cheetos
Jon Reese the Cookie Boat
Nico- Doughtnut E
Swayze the Burger
Mary Elizabeth- Super Cat Gummi Girl
As for the Letter of the week, Miss Alpha-ca-pillar was in rare form. She did manage to introduce the Letter Y. She is off to Yellowstone by Yugo where she will be yodeling and eating yogurt
